Let’s face it, a Moms day never ends so inadvertently we gravitate towards foods that will keep us going for hours. The typical mom starts her day with a cup of coffee with milk and sugar, a piece of toast or a bagel with cream cheese.Throughout the day we add in a few more caffeinated beverages and some low cal flour type items and ‘On We Go!’Caffeine, Sugar, Flour, and Dairy all produce a false sense of energy.

YOU are the only one watching out for yourself! Our bodies are designed with Adrenal Glands – these guys help dissipate our energy throughout the day.Unfortunately, with a lack of sleep, exterior stimulants from food and drink, and Multi-Tasking gone wild, we set our systems up for Adrenal Fatigue.

Adrenal Fatigue can show its nasty self through extreme exhaustion, low immunity, weight gain, and a whole host of other ailments. So what do we do now…..

1. Rest – Sleep is imperative for all bodily functions.Your goal is to be in bed by no later than 10:30pm; from 10:30pm to 2am is when the body restores the body. From 2am to 6am the body restores the mind. You’re better off waking up early than going to bed late.

2. Limit yourself to one caffeinated beverage per day.If you feel the energy need towards the end of the day, take a 10 min walk and you’ll be amazed at how your energy level changes. And if you just want the warmth of something switch to an herbal tea to give you a nice relaxing “time out” in your day.

3. Minimize the flour, sugar, and dairy. If you rush off in the morning and don’t have time to do anything for yourself – keep some hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator, you can even use them as a snack.Nuts are a great snacking alternative, just be sure they are RAW. Raw nuts provide the body with good fats, protein and carbohydrates and will keep energy moving forward.

4. And don’t forget to exercise – even 30 minutes a day can have a huge impact on our bodies respond to stress.

You won’t notice a dramatic difference overnight, but with time you will find yourself with more sustainable energy, clarity in thoughts, and you’ll even shed a pound or two.
