Split peas are one of those hidden treasures of food. They bring in significant levels of protein, iron, zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus, not to mention vitamins A and B. Combined, they help this power pea to provide an array of anti-inflammatory properties to keep us at our very best.

Here’s what you’ll need:

*Choose ALL organic Ingredients for top nutrition and minimal pesticides*

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 Yellow Onion

3 Garlic Cloves

2 Carrots

2 Celery Stalks

2 Medium Tomatoes

1 Large Potato diced

48 Oz of Chicken Bone Broth

1-2 Cups of Water (depending on how soupy you want to make it, keep in mind you will need 2.5 cups of liquid per cup of split peas, I prefer using broth because of its nutritional value, but water works as well)

32 Ounces Split Peas

1/2 teaspoon Basil

1/2 teaspoon Ground Cumin

1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Celtic Sea Salt to taste

Make It

Instant Pot Recipe

With the use of a Food Processor, place in the onions and garlic, and chop. Next, put them inside the InstantPot with some olive oil and sauté for 4-5 minutes.

Place the carrots, celery, tomatoes into the food processor and chop. Next, add in the carrots, celery, tomatoes, and diced potatoes and sauté for 1 minute with the onions and garlic.

Cancel the sauté function and place the split peas, broth, water, and spices into the Instantpot. Seal and place on High Pressure for 12 minutes. Once done allow steam to slowly be released and serve.

Stove Top Recipe

*Chop all ingredients in the same way as in the InstantPot recipe

In a large cook pot place the olive oil, onions, and garlic and sauté. Next, place the split peas, broth, and spices into a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer partially covered for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid any sticking at the bottom of the pan.

Add in the carrots, celery, tomatoes, and potatoes. Leave the lid partially open and simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding in water if needed. Add salt to taste and serve.

In Peace, Love, and Health,

Adita
