Tahini Dressing
Putting a healthy twist on comfort food!
I constantly take questions from people that try to break the cycle of how they eat. The concept of comfort food is something everyone struggles with. Mayonnaise and creamy dressings are a common part of people’s diets and if you grew up eating this, it may be comfort food for you. It took me a while to understand I needed to provide creamy options for my clients. Here is a great alternative for mayonnaise that is easy to prepare and can be used as a spread or salad dressing. Here is a simple one that can be varied to your taste, thickness, or quantity. Focus on the ingredients, not the quantities that I use.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 Tablespoon Raw Tahini (pureed sesame seeds)
1/2 Medium Size Lemon, juiced OR 1/2 tsp Apple Cider vinegar (unpasteurized)
4 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste
**Variations on flavor may include one of the following: crushed garlic, a pinch of hot peppers, hot sauce, curry sauce, or fresh or dried herbs**
Make it
Mix this in with a hearty green salad right before serving or smear it on a sandwich. Always remember to use organic ingredients and at a minimum be sure your oil and the dirty dozen fruits and veggies are organic.
