Keep your kids Strong for Flu Season
Yes, flu season has arrived and as all seasons go, we want to be prepared! This season brings on a new strain of the flu, one that seems to be a bit stronger than we are accustomed to. With all of this, now is the time to make sure your children are eating the right types of foods to keep their immune system strong!
As I have mentioned many times over, we need to keep sugars to a minimum. When I say sugars I refer to table sugar and things that metabolize as a sugars such as flour and dairy. When your body breaks down sugar, your immune system is compromised for up to 4 hours. Keep this in mind every time you hand your child a juice box or a cup cake. Your goal is to keep your children nourished to maximum capacity. You would never invest money on something that didn’t give you a reasonable return, think of food the same way – you want high quality nutrition in every bite!
So for this flu season and beyond, load up on quality proteins, lots of fruits and vegetables (the darker and richer the color the more nutrients they contain) and stay away from all the processed foods that give little, if any nutrition. Load your kids up with plenty of antioxidants, vitamin D, Essential fatty acids, and probiotics and you’ll keep this season at bay.
