Our Children need more than books to Learn.
Your child’s food choices can affect their learning and behavior. We strive to give our children an education that will open their future to unlimited possibilities. We provide them with the best schools and teachers, but are we giving them all the necessary tools to learn?
Brain development and immune strength are not easily occurring; they need specific nutrient combinations in order to develop to their full potential.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) become the first step towards nourishing the brain for cognitive thinking, learning, temperament and creating the foundation for a strong immune system. EFA’s are a balanced ratio of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, they require the assistance of vitamins B6, A, C, E, magnesium, zinc, copper, and selenium in order to successfully affect the body.
Are you making the right food choices for your children to learn, grow and prosper? Amazingly enough, food affects your health, moods, sleep, and other disorders. A typical day for most children includes some healthy choices of fruit and vegetables, but it also includes several “quick alternatives” such as processed and fast food. Sugar, flour, and dairy are all interpreted by the body as a sugar, not to mention the amount of processed salts in so many of our packaged food options. All of which can disrupt learning ability.
Sugar, corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup are found in just about every packaged food item. Did you know that in order for sugar to metabolize, the body has to suppress the immune system? Sugar and salt secrete magnesium out of the body and into the urine, but yet we need magnesium to metabolize EFA’s (those essential fatty acids mentioned above). Phosphates, which are used as a preservative, block the absorption of calcium and magnesium. And pesticides found in conventional fruit and vegetables interfere with the body’s ability to use Vitamin B6.
Nutrients work synergistically to promote learning and development. When your kids are at school and are limited with snacks and lunch times, breakfast needs to be high in protein and quality fats to maintain alertness and to increase a child’s learning abilities until they reach lunch. Processed food seems to be the easiest solution, but at what cost? If you give them a traditional cereal and milk around 7am, this all metabolizes as a sugar and break down rather quickly, they will be hungry around 10 and start to loose attentiveness in class until lunch time. Alternatively, if you gave them eggs and avocado, these things take longer to digest, leaving them satiated until lunch time.
“You are growing an adult from scratch!” Give them everything they need to grow into the person that you would like them to become. Feed them to flourish and the results will make you proud!
